Cliff has an interesting life that mixes ministry with the entertainment industry and his first novel puts one foot in each of those spheres. What I found most interesting about Cliff's story is that he did not intend to write a novel and when it was all said and done, he did all the work and it took him ten years. I thought that was a powerful story for those of us anxious to get some thoughts on paper and get them out there.

Carlton serves on the Board of Directors for the Wonderroot Community Arts Center and the Advisory Board for the Youth Theological Initiative. Carlton is also a professional photographer and local filmmaker. Shane Claiborne joins us this week for the podcast. Shane is his usual hospitable, nicest guy in the world, self. He waxes poetic with us about justice, poverty, and economics with his east Tennessee southern drawl.

At one point, Nick accused Shane of spamming him for money after his home burned to the ground. Which almost made Shane cry. But Nick recovered and apologized and we all moved ahead better people because of it.
